Sometimes beer or whiskey just won't cut it on their own. So in the spirit of collaboration and great Summer drinks, we're taking the traditional shandy and giving it a wild western twist. Get ready to saddle up and ride into flavor town with the one and only Cowboy Shandy! Picture yourself sitting by the campfire, sipping on a concoction that combines the best of two worlds – the robustness of whiskey and the crispness of lager. The Cowboy Shandy is a drink that honors the adventurous spirit and timeless charm of cowboys, making it the perfect libation for a Father's Day toast or a firepit feast. Mason jars for sipping are optional, but highly encouraged.
Highwest’s Campfire whiskey is a blend of Scotch, bourbon, and rye; a gently peaty blended Scotch is the next best thing.
1.25 oz Highwest Campfire whiskey or blended scotch
1.25 oz Smoked Honey Whiskey Sour
8 oz chilled lager
Dried Lemon Wheel for garnish
Basic Cocktail Shaker, Jigger and Strainer
Optional: Cocktail Smoking Kit
Combine whiskey and Smoked Honey Whiskey Sour mixer in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Cover and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds. Strain into a pint glass (or a large mason jar) partly filled with ice. Top with beer and stir gently to combine. Garnish with lemon wheel.
Take this cocktail to the next level by smoking the whiskey and mixer after shaking and before adding the beer! Use a cocktail smoker lid to make it easy.
